Die Sprache Spricht

Heidegger’s “Being and Time” raises the question about Human being language. From that point onwards, we ask ourselves where is the language and the speech in the artist’s book, and if the book itself is also language.

Language here doesn’t mean exactly the same as ‘verbal’ or ‘visual language’, nor even when we say ‘non-formal language’. Here language is much closer to the process of reifying the being, in the symbolic structure of materialization and setting of the being in the world, at a determinate circumstance, or the articulation in meanings of the comprehensibility inserted in the position of the being-in-the-world (Heidegger 1988a, p. 221; 1986, p. 162).

To us and ‘to many other people’, the speech also lives outside of the book, or previously to the book’s construction as ‘language’, considering that this is not only propose as a vehicle but also has its own meanings, propositions and discourses… “the whole meaning of comprehensibility comes to the word. Words come from meanings. These, however, are not things-words endowed with meanings.” (Heidegger 1988a, p. 219; 1986, p. 161).
