António Poppe (1968, Lisbon).
Visual artist, poet, performer, lives and works in Lisbon. Studied at Ar.Co (Center for Art and Visual Communication), the Royal College of Arts in London and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as a fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Luso American Development Foundation where he completed a master of Performing Art and Cinema. He has hybrid work of poetry and visual arts edited by Assyrio & Alvim ("Torre de Juan Abad", 2001), Documenta ("Livro da Luz", 2012) and Douda Correria ("medicin." in 2015 and "com coral" in 2017). He has performed and/or exhibited in spaces such as the Serralves Museum, Galeria ZDB, Galeria 111, Culturgest, Fundação Carmona e Costa, among others. In 2015 he participated in "Oracular Spectacular - Drawing and Animism", at the José de Guimarães Art Center (CIAJG); In 2017 exhibited "Watercourse" at Galeria 111, with Joana Fervença, and participated in "Encontros para Além da História", under the theme "The Magic" (CIAJG). In following year he collaborated with Mumtazz on the 6th edition of "Encontros para Além da História", this time under the theme "The Birth of Art" (d'après Georges Bataille), also at CIAJG; collaborated with "musa paradisiaca" in "Collaboration", curated by Filipa Oliveira at the Quetzal Art Center in Jachthuis Schijf, The Netherlands; and developed an artistic residency and seminar at Porta 33, on the island of Madeira, framed in the cycle "Mais importante do que desenhar é afiar o lápis", curated by Nuno Faria. In 2019, Poppe participated in an exhibition at the ZDB gallery in Lisbon.
